器作兽形，以精铜为材，作伏身昂首观望状。龟首阔口，高额蚕目，长眉两分，短颈壮身，四肢粗短健壮，腋下生有贴身双翼，四肢及背部纹饰嵌饰银丝，银丝色泽光亮，背部设有小孔以注水。
此件水丞造型奇绝，精铜为材，颇具分量。色泽古朴浑厚，尽显苍穆气韵，具有明代典型造型工艺特征。整器圆润饱满，古雅的铜色与嵌银丝工艺相得益彰，附底座，置于文房别具意趣
