Junkers Cast Iron Mechanical Toy Bremen Aeroplane with Pilot and Copilot Marks: D1167, BREMEN, JUNKERS, (various) 9-3/4 x 10 x 3-1/2 inches (24.8 x 25.4 x 8.9 cm) The toy aeroplane commemorates the first successful transatlantic flight of the German Junkers W 33 named the Bremen from east to west on April 12 and 13, 1928. The mechanical toy has a spinning propeller driven by turning the tail wheel. Removeable figures of pilot Captain Hermann Kohl, owner and copilot Ehrenfried von Hunefeld are joined by navigator James Fitzmaurice seated behind.
