A POLYCHROME 'VAJRABHAIRAVA' THANGKA
Tibet, 20th century
Painted in rich polychromy, the thangka shows in the center Vajrabhairava, depicted with a bull's head and a multitude of arms, two of them clasping Vajra Vetali, his consort, the deity standing on a lotus-shaped base, above and below other smaller deities, wooden frame and protective glass.

Vajrabhairava is the choleric version of Yamantaka, destroyer of the lord of death and angry aspect of the bodhisattva Manjusri.
