清代早期，鞭身为铁质，横截面圆形。鞭芯开孔，制成火器。鞭身后部开有引火孔，为发射时点火所用。吞口为铜质，精雕为龙首状，惟妙惟肖。柄首瓜楞形，亦为铜质，配有菊花铆。作为中国古代冷热兵器结合体，雷火鞭在中国兵器史上有着特殊地位。全长51.5厘米。
