此件插屏尺寸硕大,气势恢宏,屏、座分体制作,通体以剔红工艺装饰,屏心雕三种不同的锦纹表示天、地、水,一面以高士山水画意入饰,但见茂枫古松,岩峦逶迤,祥云缭绕,远山近水,碧波荡漾,河岸开阔之处、高士聚首,赏画攀谈,精妙绝伦。框沿、立柱、站牙、披水牙均以缠枝莲纹及拐子花卉纹为饰,边缘处雕以回纹,绦环板饰缠枝花卉纹。整器纹饰繁密,紊而不乱,井井有条,法度严谨,髹漆厚薄适中,漆质坚脆,所雕纹饰均工整有佳,刀法灵活多变,磨工、刀锋兼具,宫廷气息颇足。
