Giacomo Caneva Column of Phocas, Roman Forum Salt print from paper negative. 27.5 x 20.8 cm. Literature Bonetti 2008, ill. p. 65 and p. 149 (cat. 37) When we compare the works of Flachéron and Caneva, the two main protagonists of the Scuola Romana di Fotografia, it becomes clear just how stylistically similar the two artists were. Both were able to depict the ancient structures in all their poetic calm and dignity. They already exhibited their works together with their colleague Eugène Constant at the Art Society in London in 1852. Giacomo Caneva Phokas-Säule, Forum Romanum Salzpapierabzug vom Papiernegativ. 27,5 x 20,8 cm.
