Toy: A WW2 (World War Two) era scratch built model of Art Deco garage, the tiled flat sloping roof made of playing cards, then sanded and painted, modelled with fire hydrant and petrol pump to front, the facia embellished with uniform buttons opening to reveal a replica model of a Bedford Truck used by the Bly family to transport furniture before the war, having headlights powered by torch battery, bean tin mud guards, and a curtain rail segment for front bumper. Fitted with a detachable cover on a wire frame and number plate XMS-44. The garage approx. 20" high x 28" long x 18" wide. "Imagine unwrapping the garage and then opening the doors to find a lorry inside, what a Christmas present that was! Especially from my dad I hadn't seen in a year." - John Bly Provenance: Lots 827, 828 & 829 were made by Captain F J Bly during his time on active service abroad from 1941-1945, during this time, he made three presents for his son ( John Bly ). The materials used for each toy reflecting Captain F J Bly's rise through the ranks with increasing access to materials. The first gift being a basic 20" long floating model of a Destroyer, the second a four turreted castle, the third a replica of the family's own Bedford truck used to transport furniture and a model of their Art Deco garage.
