Signed lower left. Roland Oudot was a student at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (where he would later be a teacher himself), from 1912 to 1915, in the studio of Eugène Edouard Morand 3 . In 1915, he became Léon Bakst's assistant for the Ballets Russes (until the latter's death in 1923), and it was Bakst who revealed the paintings of Paul Cézanne, Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard, to him. The first two exerted a lasting influence on him. At the same time, however, in 1919-1920, he was a furniture and fabric designer for Louis Süe and André Mare Influenced by pictorial modernity of the early xx th century and The cubist movement in particular, his work evolved towards a style steeped in the French tradition of landscape, marked by the earlier artist Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot .Signed lower right.Sight: 9 x 12 1/2 in.
