Classy lithograph (and book) by Itzchak Tarkay signed Tarkay in the lower right and numbered 163/300 in the lower left. Subject contains two women sitting for brunch. Tarkay focuses on the female figure by using simplicity of form and line, along with a rich palette not unlike Toulouse-Lautrec, to create sensitive portraits of elusive ladies.Itzchak Tarkay was born in 1935 in Subotica on the Yugoslav Hungarian border. When he was only nine years old, the Nazis sent Tarkay to Mathausen concentration camp. After the war, he returned home and developed an interest in art. While still at school in Subotica, he won a prize for excellence in painting. Exhibited extensively both in Israel and abroad, and his works can be found in many public and private collections.
