The magazines are housed in a large binder titled “The New YorkTimes Mid-Week Pictorial War Extra” and feature ten (10) New York Times war editionsthat run from October 1, 1914 to May 13, 1915 and twelve (12) war editions from theBoston Herald Weekly that run from November 10, 1914 to March 16, 1915. The BostonHerald Weekly War Pictorials include the very first issue of the magazine, and there arebreathtaking photos of the Battle of the Marne, the Lusitania (a ship that was sunk offthe coast of Ireland by a German submarine), British machine gunners, the ArgonneForest, Zouves, Krupp guns, and other components of the first World War.
