Antique Imperial Russian Order of St Anne Sword. Measures approximately 40.5 inches in the sheath and 39.5 as the sword itself. This sword was presented to Hugo William Koehler (July 19, 1886 – June 17, 1941) and has remained in his family since, now being consigned by his direct descendent. Koehler worked in Russia for the State Department during its Civil War and later in Poland. The Russian Order of Saint Anna / Anne was established initially as a Holstein ducal and after as a Russian imperial order of chivalry established by Karl Friedrich, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp, on 14 February 1735, in honor of his wife Anna Petrovna, the daughter of Peter the Great of Russia.
