此件玉雕飛雁為和闐白玉質地，呈片狀，圓雕大雁的側面形象，玉質帶褐色沁，包漿溫潤沉蘊，頗有古雅之味。玉雁勾喙圓滑，構圖寫實生動又圓潤可愛，身軀肥碩，頗具動感。 遼代玉器題材大多選自日常常見的事物，造型質樸，韻味深具。器物造型隨意性強，如本件玉雁表現的神態自然，紋飾簡潔。用料講究，不少都是用優質和田玉製成。遼代雁形玉佩，H:2.8cm，現藏於內蒙古自治區文物考古研究所。
