提要：是书记载自鲁隐西元年至鲁哀公二十七年间历史。孔子著书，微言大义，又在诸经学家解读下更为芜杂，魏承樾择取其中大事要闻辑成此书，极便初学左传之学生阅读入门，故称之曰《左传便读》。此同治间木活字排印本，流传颇罕，拍场首见。魏承樾，字荫亭，衡阳人，魏瀛之子。同曾氏世代交好，曾就任于曾国藩麾下湘军。著有《春晖楼读左日记》《兴怡斋诗草》等。
