提要：此书意在谈忠说孝，惩戒人心。源于《大藏盂兰盆传》，为西域大目犍连尊者救母事迹，而假借为唐朝事。其中层出不穷的神佛鬼魅情节正好配合腊月里驱鬼除疫、逐阴迎阳的年俗。此本刊刻精整，通篇写刻，皮纸初印，颇为漂亮，实属难得。
