Eric Bruce McKay (British, 1907-1989), The Market, St. Jacques, Dieppe oil on canvas, signed at lower right, inscribed on the verso, framed. Frame dimensions 25 1/2 x 35 1/2 in. Eric Bruce McKay studied at the Hampstead School of Art, and later in London and Florence, under Walter Sickert. During WWII, he was a member of the Monuments and Fine Arts Commission in Germany involved in tracing and identifying stolen works of art. Following the war, he spent three years in Canada and the United States before moving back to the South Coast of England. He has exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Water Color Society, Royal Oil Colour Institutes, as well as several venues in the US and Canada.
