Kaneko "Connie" Okada McNeill (Japan/NC, 1920-2009), Tiger Lilies watercolor on paper, signed at lower left, matted and framed under glass. Sight Size 21 1/4 x 29 in.; Frame dimensions 28 1/4 x 36 1/4 in. Raised in Hiroshima, Japan, Connie learned Sumi Calligraphy and Sumi-e painting. She moved to Salisbury, NC with her husband and became an active member in the arts community, teaching watercolor and Sumi arts in North Carolina. She was a charter member of the Watercolor Society of NC, and was awarded an honorary life membership in 1977. In 1997, she was awarded the Waterworks' Lifetime Achievement Award.
