WWII Commemorative Launching Plaque for (U.)S.S. Stokes consisting of a wooden oval with decorated with gold paint against a velvet ground as follows: "S. S. Stokes Launched August 31st. 1944 Wilmington, N. C. / Mrs W. D. Woodall Sponsor / Maids of Honor Mrs M. M. Armory, Mrs S. L. Vaughn>; the champagne bottle neck from the launching is present with a length of silk ribbon. 16.5 x 26.5 in. The U.S.S. Stokes was named after western North Carolina's Stokes County.
