康宁（1938-）辽宁省义县人，其兄为康殷（中国当代古文字学专家、古玺印专家、篆刻家、书法家、画家）。少时学写意花鸟，出手不凡。就学于北京工艺美院。注重写生，功底深厚，细致工润。24岁，拜国画大师李苦禅先生为师，学习大写意花鸟画，从此侧身先生门墙二十余年，后得苦禅大师无私亲灸十多年，勤而习之，得苦老真传。与著名画家范曾为同门师兄。
