Carved lacquer lidded box, China, late 18th/early 19th c. Red and black lacquer on wooden core, carved. On the lid a multi-figure garden scene with landscape view, outer wall with four-pass floral cartouches, the black background with varying repeat patterns. Top and bottom of the box are more rubbed and bumped inside, especially on the rim, there are missing parts and cracks. Foot ring also more damaged in places. H. 13/D. 26 cm
