宗喀巴(公元1357年—1419年)，本名罗桑扎巴，意为“善慧”出生于宗喀地区(今青海省湟中县)，人称“宗喀巴”，意即“宗喀地方的人”，西藏佛教史上著名的宗教改革家和佛学大师，藏传佛教格鲁派(黄教)开山祖师。宗喀巴被认为是文殊菩萨的化身，智慧的象征，故主尊两侧分饰象征文殊菩萨的智慧剑和经书，手结说法印，跏趺坐头顶绘文殊菩萨双身像，座前绘护法格萨尔王。此尊宗喀巴头戴红色三线智慧班智达帽，象征其作为阿底峡尊者《菩提道灯论》的继承和发扬者。
