As a famous cartoonist and one of the pioneers of modern Chinese decoration art, he used to be a professor of Central Academy of Craft and Art and council member of China Artists Association. He painted new year paintings for calendars in Nanyang Brother Tobacco Company and then founded his own company with others. In his later years, he participated in the design of the cartoon the Havoc in the Heaven which was awarded the first prize in an international film festival.张正宇 1904年生于江苏无锡。原名张振宇。曾任中国青年艺剧院美术设计顾问。1952年加入中国美协，中京剧协，后任《人民画报》《美术》等刊顾问，长于影剧美术和装饰艺术，晚年多作水墨小品，亦工书法。代表作有《舞台美术小语》、《光复后的台湾》等。Zhang Zhengyu was born in Wuxi of Jiangsu in 1904. Originally named Zhang Zhenyu, he served China Youth Art Theatre as an art design consultant. In 1952, he joined the China Artists Association，and then became consultant for China Pictorial and Fine Art. He has many painting and calligraphic works as well as publications like On the Stage Art, Taiwan after Restoration and so on.
