墨床作为磨墨后用来搁置墨条的台座，亦称墨架、墨台，形状或为床式，或为几案式。其产生的具体年代不可考，文献亦鲜有记载。目前所见最早记载墨床的文献为明代，清代是文房雅玩的鼎盛时期，发展为既可实用又可赏玩的艺术品。此件雕琢精美，置于几案意趣畅然。
玉质青白色，长方形，两端下垂内卷。器面琢减地兽面纹，大眼大鼻，游丝细眉；身部雕饰勾鼓钉纹，皆为阳文凸起勾弧圆曲，纹饰凹凸有致，颇有立体感，是清代典型器。
