款识：“柏年”款 “竹林七贤”系我国古代传统表现题材，是以魏晋时期的山涛、嵇康、阮籍、向秀、刘伶、阮咸、王戎七人遁隐山林的故事为题材，表现出了文人不事朝廷，与世无争的精神生活。画画以高浮雕精镌而成，构图疏密有致，主题鲜明，人物造型准确，刀法娴熟，雕琢生动。有明代竹刻之遗风。或经久藏，此笔筒通身呈栗红色，且包浆密实，整体气息沉稳冷静，或为清初名士案上珍玩，诚不可失。
