A thigh-length mailcoat of iron rings (mainly 10-12mm wide) of alternating rivetted and butted construction; full-length sleeves of graduated rings; curved ferrous plates to the chest and flanks with four spade-shaped attachment loops and straps to the right, two leaf-shaped to the left; rear with curved overlapping lamellar plates in three columns and flanking panels; separate coif of light rings (6-8mm width) with vandykes to the lower edge and plume-holder above. 9.0 kg total, mail coat 102cm long (401/4"). From the family collection of a Hampstead gentleman; formerly acquired in the 1980s.
