13th-14th century AD. A bronze trefoil-shaped horse harness pendant with raised border, each lobe with a crown in relief, probably a heraldic device; partial remains of integral attachment loop at the top. Cf. Ashley, S., Medieval Armorial Horse Furniture in Norfolk, East Anglian Archaeology, 101, Dereham, 2002, items 197,198.7.5 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). Found in Hampshire, UK. The three crowns are the arms of the Bishop of Ely. The field of this pendant may once have been enamelled. [No Reserve]
