A pair of red carnelian intaglios, one with a flaming altar motif and the other with a standing worshipper holding a branch; set into a possibly later gold double ring with an applied ribbed band set between the hoops, each ring with a raised cell to the bezel, applied collar and granules. 10.40 grams, 22.27mm overall, 17.60mm internal diameter (approximate size British M, USA 6, Europe 12.46, Japan 12) (1"). From the collection of a Surrey gentleman; acquired 1970-1980; accompanied by an independent specialist report and valuation by graduate gemmologist and jewellery expert Anna Rogers, GIA GG, BA, Gem-A, ref. no. 171532/07/12/2020; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no. 10564-171532.
