A group of two chert figures comprising: a reclining bovine with engraved details to the face, legs tucked under the body; pierced through the body for suspension; series of pecked dots to the base forming geometric pattern; the front of a reclining mouse with engraved details to the face, back legs absent, pierced through body for suspension; series of pecked dots to the base forming human figure pattern. 28.7 grams total, 30-38mm (1 1/4 - 1 1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; formerly with the Mahboubian Gallery, London, UK; acquired before 1972; accompanied by an old gallery sticker with inventory number ST66.[2]
