9th-mid 7th century BC. An agate cylinder seal with animal and deity figures; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and typed and signed scholarly note issued by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Cylinder Seal of Black/Green Stone 29 x 16 mm. The design, which is put between upper and lower rulings, shows a standing god in decorated tunic and long open robe holding off in each hand a winged bull with human head, which is turned backwards. A rosette, a fish, a simple cross, a rhomb and a dot are fillers. This is a Neo-Assyrian seal, c. 900-650 B.C., in the so-called linear style. It is nicely cut but a little worn and damaged.' 13.1 grams, 29mm (1").
