A Chinese 'tixi' cinnabar box dating from the Ming dynasty. The box features carvings of ruyi clouds and quatrefoils on its lid and base. The interior is lacquered black. Dimensions are: 1 inches tall X 2 3/4 inches wide, 2.5 cm X 7 cm. All measurements are approximate. High resolution images can be found here Condition: There are multiple cracks. There is chipping to the edges. The interior has loss and bubbling to the lacquer. Provenance: From a private New York City collection.
