Raffaello Bonaiuti, Italian act. c.1850- The Madonna and Child; pen and grey ink and wash heightened with white on grey coloured paper, 54x40.5cm. Note: This piece is by the Italian draughtsman Raffaello Bonaiuti. Bonaiuti was involved in the production of a number of prints which depicted the Madonna and Child, producing the design for an engraving after Raphael's Madonna del Baldacchino, a copy of which is in the Royal Collection, for example. Prints made after drawings by Bonaiuti are also in the collection of the British Museum. In execution and subject-matter, then, this drawing is a typical example of the artist's work.
