A late 19th century silver gilt Viking Revival pectoral cross pendant necklace by Paul Telge after the Hiddensee treasure, modelled as Thor's hammer surmounting a Celtic maze design cross, to a rope link neckchain, pendant width 4.9cm, the reverse signed Paul Telge, fitted case with applied label stating H.AHRENS Juwelier in Stralsund Baden.Str.2. Paul Telge 1840 - 1909 In 1873 a 10th century Viking gold hoard was discovered by chance on the German island of Hiddensee in the Baltic. The find consisted of sixteen pieces of jewellery comprising a neck ring, a brooch and fourteen pendants; the jewels are kept in the Stralsund Museum of Cultural History.
