The European fascination with Orientalism and the Middle East would provide her with a market to sell her artwork to, as well as commissions from highly regarded figures in the Middle East, including the Sultan of Constantinople. The present work follows the style of Lawrence Alma-Tadema and John William Godward - highly sought after Victorian artists - with extravagantly dressed women seated languorously in a temple.
