A pair of Sevres porcelain shaped plates, 18th century, decorated to the centre with large sprays of flowers and grapes with a butterfly, with three shaped vignettes of flowers to the rims, within gilt acanthus leaf frames, on deep blue and gilt cailloute grounds, feint blue crossed LL's to base, date letter H, with painters mark, inventory no. CLXXVII 1 and 4, Labels of Einsatzstab RR Col 13b and 5604, 24cm diameter (2) Note: This lot is part of a private collection of porcelain that were subject to restitution after they were looted by the Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg (ERR - the Nazi military group charged with the seizure of works of art from Jewish owners) from the Chenue depositary in Paris in 1942. The collection was ascribed to Lucy Sophie Yvonne de Jonquet, born in 1878, in Peckham. Her older brother, Adolphe Ambrose married a Rosamond Taylor, who may have had an acquaintance with a lady of title, the Countess d'Etchegoyen, who introduced Lucy to London society. In 1895 Lucy married a wealthy industrialist, John Graham. Unfortunately, he died suddenly and at the age of 20 Lucy appears to be a widow living off her husband’s income. She appears later in Paris, having married a Josef Hieronyme Rudolf Ferdinand Franz Maria, the Prince Colloredo-Mannsfeld, a hereditary prince of Austro-Hungarian origin. This marriage was dissolved by divorce in 1925 as there were questions regarding Lucy’s family history. Apparently only women of noble birth could marry into the Colloredo-Mannsfield family and her lineage was not distinguished enough to allow her to be presented at court. Possibly via her marriage she acquired this collection of porcelain which was stored at the Chenue depositary prior to the Second World war. It is known that she moved to Italy, and that she died on 11 April 1940 in Rome. On the 6th February 1942 the Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg corps visited the warehouses and the collection of porcelain was moved to the Jeu de Paume Museum for documentation before being sent to Seisenegg castle in Austria. After the war it was removed from there and by 1950 was laid in the storerooms of the Sevres Museum in Paris before finally being traced to the heirs of Lucy’s estate and released on the 13th February 2020. We are indebted to the vendor for these details and there is a much fuller family history available to any purchasers of these lots. Two services fitting the description of the plates were sold in 1761, and so these plates either come from a set delivered to Florent-Louis-Marie, Comte du Châtelet-Lomont, Commander of the elite Guards unit of the Royal Military Household, or from the one delivered to Claude Bonnet, the Paris agent/dealer of the Duke and Duchess of Parma. On 1st August 1761 the Comte du Châtelet purchased a dessert service, painted in lapis caillouté, for 6.642 livres, and which comprised 106 pieces. On 28th November 1761 a service also described as lapis caillouté was delivered to Claude Bonnet, a Paris dealer and the agent for the Duke and Duchess of Parma (Don Filippo and Madame Elisabeth, Infanta of Spain). This service cost 8.250 livres and comprised 192 pieces. In Sevres Plates and Services, by David Peters, 2005, II, p. 327 and 331, Peters mentions two services produced in 1761 by the Sèvres factory with this decoration described as "lapis caillouté", and with "reserves containing polychrome bouquets of flowers or groups of flowers and fruit". One plate has a chip and restoration to the rim, the other plate has smaller chip to rim and some over painting, some overall wear to gilding especially to rims, discolouration to the white glaze, spit back or glaze bubbling to back,
