IVAN SEMEDVICH GOROVOY (Russian, b.1921), mid-20th century, Russian, a superb bronze maquette figure for the Kiev Memorial to the Tank Soldiers of the Great Patriotic War, 52cm high Gorovoy was born in 1921 in Bryansk and entered Luchinsk Art School in 1938, later attending the Kiev Art Institute 1941-1951. He created a number of large Russian monuments including the Stalin Monument at the Nikolayev Museum, a large decorative nude for the Kiev Metro and the Kiev Dynamo soccer players' memorial. This bronze was purchased directly from the Kiev communard of Artists in 1989.
