An Italian walnut commode, basically 18th century, of undulating serpentine outline, the top with a moulded edge and scrolling marquetry inlay, and the whole with crossbanded and feather banded veneer, raised on cabriole supports terminating in peg feet, 124cm wide 59cm deep 88cm high Condition report: Backboard replaced. Evidence of repair and alteration to the carcass. Knocks, splits and losses to veneer. Traces of worm. Splits to drawer linings. Replacements to hardware. All feet have been repaired or re-tipped. General wear and repair throughout.
