Attributed to John Moore of Ipswich (1820-1902) Boats on a rough sea indistinctly signed l.l., oil on board 30 x 42cm Condition report: Oil on artist’s board. There is minor wrinkling at the lower right corner and some deterioration at the edges of the support, otherwise it is in plane. The paint layers are very worn, notably in the sky. There are some areas of loss and damage caused by impact to the front of the painting. There is extensive overpaint in the sky which has been applied in a brushy, wholesale manner. The varnish is yellowed and patchy with dark spots across the surface. There is a larger vertical scuff to the surface at the left hand side.
