RARE CHINESE SONG / YUAN DYNASTY POTTERY BUDDHIST ZODIAC JAR AND COVER The wall of the jar has been decorated with six lotus leaf panels within which are moulded and applied human figures and zodiac animals. Equidistant around the shoulder are moulded and applied vajra (Buddhist sceptres). On the surface in places and under the cover are what appear to be traces of a pink pigment. If looking carefully at the inside minute specks of gold leaf can be seen, part of the original contents of this jar. 24.5cm tall. Provenance: the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
