LARGE CHINESE SONG / YUAN DYNASTY GLAZED BUDDHIST JAR Coated in an attractive green glaze of varying shades that has been applied on top of a pale slip, to emphasize its colour. The inner surface is also glazed. Moulded Buddhist motifs have been applied to the surfaces of both the cover and jar. Various kilns scars to both the inner and outer surfaces of the cover and to the base of the jar show that little care was taken to prevent it from coming into contact with other vessels in the kiln during firing. 35cm tall, 24.5 cm diam.
