A George III silver wine funnel, London 1808, both sections hallmarked, maker Thomas Wallis II. Height 12.5 cm, 145 grams (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The wine funnel is in generally good condition. The top lip of the push in strainer is very slightly out of shape when viewed from the side. The strainer fits snuggly into the aperture. There are no dents or significant scratches. The engraved band is in good condition all round. The lobing beneath has some dents. Five of the ribs have significant visible dents and there are some smaller minor ones. The tapering spout is in generally good condition. The hallmarks on the push in section are clear and easy to read. They are also clear on the main body. On the inside of the funnel where the most pronounced dents on the lobing are there is evidence of some soldered repairs.
