An 18th century walnut stool, with stuffover top with four turned legs united by stretchers and raised on short feet. Height 47 cm, width 82 cm, depth 51 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Whilst the stool is structurally fairly sound with only slightly loose joints, it is affected by woodworm in all of the bearers, legs and less so in the stretchers. The woodworm appears to be long gone but there are numerous holes. The timber is not particularly soft at all. The most badly affected section is the turned finial at the centre of the cross stretchers. The feet also have some small losses caused by the woodworm and similar to the finial. The webbing is showing signs of age but serviceable. The same comments apply to the fabric covering. The frame does not appear to have had any significant repairs over time.
