Description
Translation provided by Youdao
A Japanese mixed metal vase with copper, gold, and silver inlays dating from the Meiji period. It features two roundels on either side; one contains a scene with a turtle and a crane in a rocky landscape, and the other contains a scene of a dragonfly and berries by a rock. Below each panel is a foliate pattern above a band depicting birds flying above waves. Two mythical beasts are located on the neck of the vessel above the scenic roundels. Dimensions: 11 3/4 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide, 29.8 cm X 14 cm. Weight: 3250 grams. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is metal splitting around the base and very minor dents around the rim. Oxidation of some metals obscures some decorative details. Provenance: From a Connecticut gentleman's collection.
