A Japanese bronze vase imitating an archaic Chinese style and dating from the Meiji period. It features a band of stylized Taotie masks over a geometric ground around its shoulder with geometric pennants extending below. There is a Greek key border around its neck. It has a pair of ring handles and a 6-character mark on the bottom. Dimensions: 8 1/2 inches tall X 4 7/8 inches wide, 21.6 cm X 12.4 cm. Weight: 1150 grams. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is general age wear and a patch on one side of the vase. Provenance: From a Connecticut gentleman's collection.
