Titled "Satu Mare", oil on canvas, signed 'Gergely Imre' in bottom right. Born in Pest, Imre Gergely studied at the School of Model Drawing in Hungary and then in Vienna, Munich, and Carlsruhe. In 1911 he was awarded the Torley Prize at the National Salon, Budapest. Gergely's work included Italian landscapes, Mideastern and Arabian scenes, as well as domestic portraits. Several of his paintings are part of the permanent collections of the Hungarian National Gallery. Overall size: 37 1/2 x 29 1/2 in. Sight size: 31 x 23 in.
