炉作为香火承载之器，为华夏文化之精粹，上至帝王，下至百姓，为世人推崇备至。蚰耳炉，宜陈列于书房之中，文案或琴桌上焚香所用，前期曾为天子专用彝器，因炉耳弯曲如蚰得名。宣德皇帝品题其为诸炉之冠，取其潜龙之态，作潜心学习、潜心朝政事，属内府自用炉。明人项元汴《宣炉博论》中称，时苏州一带宣炉款制最推崇乳炉，鱼耳炉、蚰耳炉。 本拍品器口外侈，双蚰龙耳，呈扁弧形，垂鼓腹，圈足外撇，转角圆润，线条流畅柔美，结构稳当，造型典雅古朴，沉稳大雅中尽显玲珑之美。铜炉周身皮色均匀，为沉稳的茶褐色。铜炉轮廓线柔美流畅，美观大方，可谓精工美形。香炉铜质甚好，细润精密，精光内敛，掂之沉重，比例协调，更显庄重。
