ROLEX EXPLORER II "CREAM DIAL" REF. 16550, CIRCA 1984 Three-body tonneau Oyster stainless steel case, signed, n. 8584593, graduated bezel up to 24 hours, concave lugs, screwed caseback ref. 16550, Twinlock crown with guards. Rolex Oyster steel bracelet ref. 78360, déployante stamped J1, end-link 501. Cream color dial, signed, "Railway" writing, luminescent indexes, open minute divisions, date indication, luminescent skeletonized hands, centered seconds, GMT hand. Self-winding caliber 3085, rhodium-plated, signed, 27 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance with Microstella screws adjusted for temperature and five positions, free-sprung Breguet hairspring, shock-absorber, hack-mechanism. Diameter Ø: 40 mm Note: working Introduced in 1985 to replace the previous 1655, the reference 16550 is a transitional model with a production period of approximately four years. The first batches of white dials have a defect that over time made them take on a cream-colored hue. Another peculiarity of this dial is the positioning of the words "SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED", with the central spacing that creates a "track" between the words, hence the name "Railway dial".
