Valdes-Leal's picture of Manard, the great Don Juan, patron of art and public benefactor, was carried out whilst he was being employed by Manara in decorating the interior of the Church of Caridad in Seville, and it is in this Church that Valdes-Leal's most famous paintings are to be found - his "Allegories of Death and Corruption."
