Barnaby Powell (British 1891-1939), a James Powell and Sons gold amber glass 'tumbler' vase c.1939, pattern number 9030 With self colour ribbon trailing, 22 cm high; together with a flared glass vase, pattern no. 8886, 21 cm high; together with a high side bowl and broad dish, both in pale green with blue ribbon trailing, the dish is engraved with a camel in the middle, 25 cm and 30 cm diameter respectively (4) Edited by Lesley Jackson, ‘Whitefriars Glass – the Art of James Powell & Sons’, Richard Dennis, Somerset, 1996, p. 121, Pl 104; and p.122, Pl 105 & 106 (similar shapes illustrated) Vases: some small nicks around the pontils, a few scratches, light natural wear with heavier wear to underside of the feet in keeping with age and use. Bowls: both with some wear to interiors and and to the bases. The dish is engraved with a camel which would have happened after it left the factory and there is a bruise on the interior.
