A Sumerian terracotta cuneiform foundation cone, second dynasty of Lagash, reign of Gudea, circa 2141-2122 BC, from the temple of Ningirsu at Tello (Girsu), inscribed with columns of text, length 11cm. Provenance: from the estate of a West Sussex collector. Note: these symbolic pegs were embedded into temple walls to commemorate the royal builder.
