A George III black lacquered longcase clock case, circa 1780, 231cm high, with an arched brass dial with Roman numeral chapter ring and moonphase signed Joseph Wood, Scarborough to the chapter ring, now with a later quartz movement, together with an eight-day movement with rack and snail and anchor escapement Provenance: The Collection of Countess Veronica Munster Joseph Wood is recorded in Baillie, G.H. 'Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World' as working in Scarborough circa 1760-90, p.348 Condition Report: This clock will need restoration overall, the case with splits and cracks, chips and losses, repairs, the base probably cut down in size, The eight-day movement is present but not attached, this will take a professional restorer to overhaul and repair and re-fit to the dial.
