A pair of Regency mahogany hall chairs, circa 1820, in the manner of designs recorded by Loudon, each 84cm high, 39.5cm wide, 50cm deep Two very similar models of the back of this hall chair is illustrated in the Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design, pages 237 & 238, with illustrations taken from Loudon, dated 1833. Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. Both chairs of solid structure. Both chairs stamped 'CH' to underside of one seat rail. Thin section of replacement timber used to underside of one seat rail (approx. 9x1cm).
